Employees at University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) were suddenly asked to leave one of the campus buildings after serious structural safety concerns were discovered.
University officials identified multiple dangerous issues inside the building, including:
• Sinking and unstable flooring
Structural deterioration in key areas
• Sections of the building closed due to safety risks
Because of these problems, staff were told to relocate immediately to protect their safety.
University response
UMKC administration confirmed they are:
Moving employees to safe temporary offices
Evaluating repair or replacement options
Prioritizing safety before reopening the building
This situation highlights growing concerns about aging infrastructure in universities across the U.S., especially buildings that are decades old and require major renovation.
